I didn’t just wake up one day and decide to buy a van. My journey in Yorkshire logistics started 25 years ago on the floor of a warehouse, operating a forklift for George Walker Transport. I spent two decades inside the engine room of British transport, eventually working my way up to Night Operations Manager.
When the regional Palletways hub launched, I was the one at the helm. I was responsible for planning the freight for 20 Palletways drivers and managing over 20 night trunking drivers connecting to three different national hubs. If it moved through Yorkshire at night, it crossed my desk.
Managing a massive network hub taught me everything about efficiency, but it also showed me the "pitfalls of the network." When your goods are handled by forklifts, trunkers, and hubs ten different times, the chance of damage or loss doesn't just increase - it’s nearly 10x higher. I saw a gap in the market. While the big networks were focused on how cheap a delivery could be, I believed customers were looking for how safe it could be.
Five years ago, I decided to take 20 years of high-level logistics experience and shrink it down into a service that puts the customer first. I traded the management office for the driver's seat and founded T-Bone Transport.
